It's organization time again....and this month I'm going to give some organizational tips for one of my very favorite things.....jewelry and accessories. I love all things shiny, glittery, and colorful....inexpensive or costly....it's all fun to me! My collection has really grown thanks to shopping here and here earlier this summer..and of course I had to find a great way to organize it. I am one of those girls who likes to have her jewelry out where I can see it. If it's buried in boxes or in a drawer, I forget about it and don't wear it as often. Here a few ideas for ways to organize your jewelry and accessories.
I used a shelf my grandpa made me when I was in high school to display my necklaces. I have it hanging right near the little table I sit at to get ready in the morning. I love that I can see all my necklaces and just grab one and go in the mornings.
My bracelet collection has really grown and was no longer fitting in the tiny drawer of the jewlery box I have. I found this fun silver bowl at Kohl's and have it setting on my makeup table. I love how all the colors and bling reflect in the silver bowl.
This is an idea from my sister, Jill. She also shops at the above stores and has quite a jewelry collection. She found these pink and purple bowls at Target and put them in a drawer in a table in her bedroom to help organize all her bling!
One of our Cartwheel girls - Nora - shared this idea she uses to store her necklaces. "This storage for my necklaces is reason #764 of why I love my husband. He helped me turn a frame from a local craft store, a piece of plywood, denim fabric and drawer knobs into one of my very favorite items." I told her I was pretty sure I needed to adopt her husband for a day so I could have one of these as well!!
Cheryl shared this idea with me. "I got this big decorative bowl from my aunt's things after she passed away...so not only does it have special meaning to me, but it's also one of my favorite organizational secrets. The bowl itself is huge, and when I was trying to figure out what to put in it I realized that it was going to take alot of whatever i choose because it's so deep...and then i thought it would be perfect for holding my jewelry...so to save money on the wooden colored balls, I placed a bunch of rarely used jewelry that I bought on clearance to use on jewelry projects later underneath them and then hid them with just a few balls on top. "
I also found a few ideas on the internet and you can see them here...here...here...here.
I also thought I'd include a few ideas for organizing hair accessories. My daughter has a huge collections of bows, headbands, and flowers so I'm always looking for ways to keep it all contained!
This idea came from my sister, Brenda. She has 2 girl, which means she has double the amount of hair accessories. She organized them in 3 jars - one for bigger bows and flowers, one for smaller bows, and one for pony tail holders. She has them sitting on the bathroom counter and it makes it so easy for the girls to grab hair accessories...and also put them away!
This is a little spot in my daughter Jenna's room. The color is really, really off in this photo, but you can get the idea. She actually has quite a bit stored here: basket on desk = headbands, jar on desk (stole the idea from my sister!) = bigger bows and flowers, ribbon holder to left of desk = smaller bows and flowers. The flower box is my favorite part! I recently asked my Dad to build the flower box for her room. The middle section has flowers displayed, but each side is open to store rubber bands, bobby pins, barrettes, and ribbons.
So how do you organize all your girly accessories?? I'd love to see your ideas!!!
HAPPY ORGANIZING!!
