Through the Lens: Filter Fun.

 

For those of you that are familiar with my work {which is probably 2% of you.. thanks mom for being such a faithful follower} you have probably seen these images before. I apologize. LET ME EXPLAIN MYSELF! These images are some of my favorite for a couple of reasons. First, I got to work with two amazing girls. Second, I gave these images a warm filter effect. Mmm, yes. Warmth. I love warmth.

 Things to keep in mind while reading this post:

{a}. The chair you see in these pictures belonged to my grandmother who gave it to my sister who then so graciously gave it to me {because the hubs and i had ZERO amount of furniture when we moved}. Oh yeah, it was pretty dang heavy to drag across a field. 

{b}. My sister is the one in the purple dress {isn't she a doll!?}.

{c}. The other girl was a hairstylist who gave me amazing deals on my hair before i moved {now i get no deals... and now I pay in pounds. twice as expensive}.

{d}. The yellow chandelier was one of my favorite lamps. This was the last time i saw it in one piece. It was broken in our move across the pond. May it rest in peace.

Organization Tips & Tricks 04

 
 

My scraproom was built just a little less than a year ago when we refinished our basement.  I love having my own space, but am always looking for ways to organize all my supplies.  I love when I find ideas that are unique and fun...but still functional!

I found this 3 tiered stand at Hobby Lobby recently and use it to display all my small embellishements - jars  of brads and buttons, bowls with tags, patterned tape, and misc small embellishments, and .  I love having all this out on my counter and within reach instead of buried in a drawer....plus I love the color it adds!

These 4 little metal bins sit right in front of my main work area.  I found them in the dollar spot at Target (one of my favorite places to find containers for organizing!) several years ago.  I use 2 bins for new supplies - one for stamping related supplies and one for scrapping/art supplies, another bin is for cards I'm working on or have just finished, and the last one is for pictures I want to scrap soon. 

Many artists use vintage items for organization in their creative space.

Cindy - another Cartwheels design team member - recently purchased a new organizational item at IKEA - this set of drawers - and uses it to store punches, paints, and even her die cut materials.

Fashion Ambush: Wedding Lust.

Happy Wednesday my loves! Good news: the week is half over! Time just flies on by when you're having fun! Speaking of fun... how many of you LOOOOVE to look wedding dresses just for fun?! Well, i DO! Even though yes, i am happily married I still love to see what each wedding season has to offer {Who doesn't love to dress shop?!?}. I realize that most people get wedding fever around the end of May but not me. Considering that I was wed in December, I find myself checking out the bridal sites more around this time of the year{oncewed, snippetandink, theknot anyone?}. 

During my perusing i found the most GORGEOUS handmade gowns ever! For those of you that are about to tie the knot you should seriously consider buying one of these beauties.

Each dress offered by Peppermint Pretty is designed by owner Erin Coleman with the modern-day, unique bride in mind. Erin's goal is to offer one of a kind gowns in a world full of cupcake dresses. Organizing little bits at pieces at arms reach.

Jumpstart On A Wednesday...Drink Coozie.

Fall is finally here, and I can't tell you how excited I am about that...because to me autumn is the olympic gold of all seasons. I mean, who can debate that when it gives you colorful trees, candy corn and best of all: warm apple cider? Not me, that's for sure. I will be the first person buying it when the farmer's market starts selling it again. I just love a little warm cider at the end of the day (and the beginning...and just a little midday too.). And because of that, I decided to go into apple cider season prepared...which is why I designed a little drink coozie to go around my apple cider mug.

To create it, I just used a basic coozie that I got for a couple dollars at Joann Fabrics (but you could easily make your own!) and took the button off before adding my own version:

Next I created the little puffy star by cutting out 2 stars and then sewing around the edges and adding quilt batting in the middle.

Then I wrote the Zip A Dee Do Da words onto the coozie and hand-stitched over them to make them stand out a bit more.

And there you have it, a unique little drink coozie...just in time for Cider season!
