Cards can do numerous things...they can send thanks or good wishes and sometimes they can even have a dual purpose. With this in mind, I’m sharing cards that are doing two jobs at once. Both cards I've made are created with Studio Calico’s new “Documentary” line whose versatile patterns and great details were so much fun to work with.
This card is for my mother-in-law, who we are super excited to see next month when we take a road trip up to Oregon for a family reunion. The “Family Vacation” card from Studio Calico was perfect for this greeting…I just added some twine and a tiny layered tag to with the sentiment. Inside the card is a little pocket with some recent photos I promised I’d share with her.
Another time a card works double duty is when it’s a gift tag too.
I made this to go along with a gift for a teenage neighbor who was going off to volunteer at a camp where my husband and I were on staff for many years. We wanted to send her with a little something special to use during the week so we sewed her a drawstring backpack. I should admit by “we” I actually mean my husband who is a fantastic seamster (which I just looked up is the gender neutral term for seamstress…just trying to keep the article educational J).
I used layers of stickers and a Studio Calico FabRip, adhesive backed fabric that you tear into strips. FabRips are such a fun innovation and so easy to fold into a ruffle.
All it took was a simple hole punched in the corner to have this card work as a gift tag.

Thanks for going along with me through these couple of projects. Hope you enjoy putting your cards to work!
