I have slowly been relearning how to crochet, but never in a million years would I have thought of creating such jewelry with metal wire. It's amazing what goodness comes out of simple everyday items that we use for our jewelry pieces. When I stumbled upon Yael's etsy shop, I was completely intrigued. I couldn't believe my eyes. Her beautiful wearable art is so unique and classy! I"m so honored and thrilled to share with all of you an artist that is inspiring and creates the most beautiful crocheted artwork I've ever seen.
Yael's jewelry is a breath of fresh air with plenty of intricate details. Not only does she create beautiful wearable art, she also has unique home decor pieces, such as lampshades and wire sculptures. Yael also offers plenty of tutorials and handmade crocheted beads to create your own handmade piece of jewelry. If you are looking for a gift for that special person her jewelry is sure to catch the attention from the receiver. And you may want to treat yourself as well.
Yael answered our questionnaire and has shared with us her advise and a little about herself and her business.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Hi I'm Yael aka YooLa , I'm an industrial
designer during the days and a metal knitter during the nights.
Describe your business:
I design and make home decor and jewelry using a rare technique of crochet. I develop my own patterns and offer tutorials for some of my designs.
I accumulated too many items to give away as gifts to my family
and friends :) and wanted to make more....
When did you start doing art?
From when i remember myself, although i didn't know i can really
build a life around it , till i went to design school.
Color is something that inspires me deeply, structures from
nature, and music puts me in the mood.
What are your long term career goals?
I hope to have my work displayed in more galleries around the world.
What kind of music do you enjoy listening to while you create?
I love “world music” and jazz .
What and/or who are your influences?
Defiantly Gaudi! My visit to Barcelona, seeing his work and learning about him accompany me.
I remember my grandma teaching me to crochet, i was probably 9 or
10, now i know she was a true artist but unfortunately i don't think she ever
knew that.
Do you have a motto you live by?
Avoid conflicts, always see the bright side of life, give things a
try.
Where do you see yourself & your business in the next 5 years?
I hope it will keep bringing me the same happiness as it does today, I hope to maintain the joy of creation.
Share!!!! The handmade community life is very supportive, the
more you give the more you get :)
Describe your creative process.
I always start from scratch, I take colored wires and manipulate
it until a design i love pops out of there. Sometimes I take already existing
elements of mine and search for a way to twist it and get something new. The
design of new elements is my favorite part of work!
Look
for your individual voice, this in my opinion is the key to success.
Can you cartwheel? If so, we'd love to see a photo! :)

Wow, gorgeous work!! I've been crocheting since I was a kid, too, but i've never experimented with wire. Would love to give it a try!
