It's Cheryl Manz-Ametewee and I'm the founder/owner of this new web-based art magazine. I am a stay-at-home mama living in the DC area that has a love for art and scrapbooking. It is because of my dedication to all things handmade that I have decided to begin this exciting new venture...and my goal is to showcase all the deserving handmade artists and art business owners that put so much time and energy into their amazing art and deserve due recognition. Having been on the inside of the handmade art/scrapbooking industry for the past 10 years, I have witnessed just how much work goes into making truly amazing art, and how little recognition artists can get despite the quality and creativity of their art and how deserving they may be. Through Cartwheels In My Mind I hope to help those deserving artists get that recognition through interviews, inspirational articles and samples created by my very talented design team often using product donated by our sponsors. (a list of our team, including photo galleries with samples of their work can be found on the right side of our blog.)
Aside from interviewing artists and business owners, we will also be updating the site every day with new inspiration articles that range from daily photos to thrift shop makeovers to inspiring links pertaining to handmade art. We are providing you with 5 main categories including but not exclusive to: photography, scrapbooking, home decor, fashion and organization. Each article will be unique to it's author/artist and will include photos, tutorials and a bit of background behind the art.
A complete list of articles and who will be writing them can be found along the header of the blog, as well as a brief description provided by the writers themselves but I am always open to suggestions about how we can make this site more universally inspiring and user friendly for you so please feel free to contact me at any time at: n.c.ametewee(at)gmail(dot)com.
We have also set up a flickr group for anyone who would like to join in on discussion and art sharing and members of our design team will be pulling inspiring art pieces from the site on a regular basis to be showcased here on the Cartwheels blog. We will also be showcasing one handmade artist a month as a guest designer...if you'd like to be considered for this, please mention it on the flickr site so that we can add you to the list of creative artists that have caught our attention.
As I mentioned before, we will also be showcasing the art business owners out there both big and small. Each week we will feature a new company in an article as well as any art our designers created using their product. I am very excited about our first sponsors here on the site and can't wait to share what we have created using their product. If you would like to be a sponsor for the site, please feel free to e-mail us for sponsorship information as well as ad space prices and any other questions you might have.
I hope that you will find this site super inspiring...through this entire process we have all already pushed ourselves creatively and we're hoping you feel the same after looking through all the fun things we have already posted and what is still to come because we are striving to bring you the most inspiring site possible and hope that you will come back on a daily basis to read our articles and join in on the Cartwheels movement. :)
So let's get creating!
