It's candy-time here at the Cartwheel's magazine and each of the
Cartwheels girls is a big, big fan of the sweets. Each of us has a
favorite memory tied to yummy treats: treats from the grandparents
because they're awesome, overindulging in Halloween candy, cupcakes on a
first date, chocolate for chasing the blues away or for a job well
done. Do you have a sweet memory to share? If so, join us in this
week's creative challenge!
Creative Challenge: Create an
art piece sharing your love for all things yummy and sweet!
1. Relive a favorite childhood memory that
involves treats. 2. Create your own cupcake - what flavors and
colors would you use? 3. What epic lengths have you gone to to get
that yummy treat? 4. When do you treat yourself? After a hard day at
work? After achieving a success? Everyday at 6pm?
help you in this challenge are a few layouts shared by the Cartwheels
girls this week:
something I've wanted to document for some time. I have eaten a little
bit of chocolate every day for many years!"
"My sister took
me to a cake decorating warehouse last summer and since then cupcakes
are a whole new world. Love being able to pipe my frosting and add cute
details...like these pink cupcakes for a family friend's birthday last
"There's no yummier treat in the summer than
s'mores....especially s'mores made with extra big marshmallows and lots
"As I've probably mentioned before, I have a mean sweet tooth and among
my large collection of “a peculiar fondness for [whatever] sweets" that I
possess is one for Cinnamon Bears.
Anyway, as I was scarfing my face all the while scolding my sweet
husband for buying them for me in the first place, our funny lil' girl
spouted off with this hysterical statement. Love her.
When I think of summer, I can't help but think of all the delicious things that come along with it...blue raspberry slushes, dripping ice cream cones, cotton candy when the carnival comes into town and...well you get the idea (and I just got hungry). But the best thing about sweets is that they are one of those sinful, tempting things in life...and sinful things usually come in attractive packages. So for this month's theme, Sweet Shoppe, I asked the team to set out on the deadly task of finding inspiration from those delicious temptations...and I'm so excited to share each of their take's on the challenge and what they had to say about it.
So grab a piece of strawberry shortcake and a raspberry iced tea, sit back, and GET INSPIRED!
I have these little vases i bought at Target's dollar spot a while back
& my kids love lollipops, they ask for them on the daily (lollipops
are such a great bribe when you are out & about...keeps them calm
& you sane).
When I think Sweet Shoppe I think of going out to get a teetering ice
cream cone, but truth be told I'm too much of a neat freak and would
probably ask for it in a cup with a spoon. That doesn't mean I can't
stamp one though.
I made these two towering piles of pink ice cream as cards to go along
with the end-of-the-year teacher gifts my son will be giving next week.
Inside the cards are wishes for a sweet summer.
